Welcome To Marmion, Flyingthorpe, Robin Hoods Bay
|
Marmion is situated within the North
Yorkshire Moors National Park and as such is close to some
spectacular locations and a lots of things to do
and see. There are enough walks on
the moors to
keep the most energetic
|
|
people happy.
There are two post offices close by, one of which, The
Fylingthorpe General Store is just 2 minutes walk and is
stocked with a good range of food and drink to keep you
happy. The store is open 7 days a week.
|
|
Whitby, a busy little seaside town with
plenty of shops and places to eat, ranging from the good old
Yorkshire chip shop to some quite nice restaurants. It
has a delightful harbour with long piers and one of the nicest
beaches I have seen in england. The harbour is an old haughnt
of Captain Cook and has regular visits from square rig ships as
the picture shows. |
 |
Whitby has a
railway station which has daily services connecting into the
East Coast Main Line, but it is a bit of a long way around. If
you go slightly further up the coast you will pass Whitby golf
Club on the way to Sandsend, another enchanting sea side
village. |
|
The North Yorkshire moors Railway ,
one of the longest preserved steam railways in Britian.
The nearst station on the line is at Grosmont, which has
one of the main terminus stations on the line along with
the
|
|
engine shed and workshop.
Trains run daily during the summer and they have special event
days during the
year. |
